Quick Start

This guide helps you quickly start using Slime Locomotion for natural walking in VR games.

Or watch directly on YouTube.

Pro Driver

Pro Driver automatically overrides the controller’s joystick and does not generate a #/USER/TREADMIL controller, so it takes effect directly when you open the game. After installation, the default driver is Pro Driver. For usage, see the Basic Setup video above, but ignore the TREADMIL controller part.

To avoid software conflicts, follow these recommendations:

  • Close the SteamVR drivers of other similar running software to prevent conflicts that can cause SteamVR to crash
  • It is currently known that the LIV software and Natural Locomotion conflict with Pro Driver; it is recommended to disable their software drivers.
After startup, body posture can be controlled, but movement via the controllers is not possible? The controller joysticks are disabled; control is only possible through body posture.
Section titled “Standard Driver - Controller Binding (Complex, not recommended)”

It does not cause SteamVR conflicts, but requires manually binding the controllers.

For best experience, in the game:

  • Ensure tracker signal is normal to reduce latency
  • Trackers should display properly in SteamVR interface
  • It’s recommended to disable SlimeVR’s tap based resets to prevent posture reset caused by tracker collision
  • Close other similar running software SteamVR drivers to prevent conflicts
  • Game needs to be set to track headset movement with continuous movement for hip direction tracking to work
What if movement recognition is inaccurate? Check if tracker network latency is normal, adjust sensitivity settings in Slime Locomotion.
Why isn't hip tracking working? Trackers should display properly in SteamVR interface. Game needs to be set to track headset movement with continuous movement for hip direction tracking to work.
